A New Day Dawns

Following the March 25, 2010 fire, the Chatham County Commissioners named a task force of interested citizens to make recommendations for the possible uses of the Courthouse upon its rebuilding.

The recommendation of the Task Force was to continue a Superior Courtroom on the second floor and to devote the first floor to a showcase for visitors and historical education.

The Board of County Commissioners approved the plan and was generous in making space available. Thus was born the new museum space representing a joint effort of local government and a non-profit working toward the same goal.

Our goal: $135,000
