Chatham County Historical Association
Preserving and sharing the history of Chatham County North Carolina
History comes to life on Sunday, May 3, 2026 when the Chatham County Historical Association hosts Jordan Lake School of the Arts in a student-produced living history event to celebrate our country’s 250th anniversary.
The students have researched figures from Chatham’s past and present and will bring them to life in the historic Chatham County Courthouse on May 3 from 2pm-4pm.
Students in period dress will be stationed in various corners of the Courthouse, delivering short talks about their characters. The audience is invited to stroll from one historic figure to another to meet and learn about the characters and their impact on Chatham County.
This Living History Event is a keystone event in the students’ history curriculum. Their preparation has required honing their research, writing and public speaking skills. Come support their efforts and enjoy an afternoon of Chatham County history with an upcoming generation of amazing Chatham County students.
Everyone is welcome at this free event. And, May 3 is a Pittsboro First Sunday—a community celebration day with vendors and fun activities throughout downtown. We hope to see you there!
